Types of Rubber used for Gaskets Manufacturing
Besides the above specified types of rubber gaskets, there are many other choices of rubber available for making gaskets. Each rubber has its own durability and advantages to offer.
Nitrite rubber:
This rubber is also known as Buna-N. This is the synthetic type of rubber gaskets, which is the co-polymer of butadiene and acrylanitrite. It can sustain a wide range of temperature, right from -20 degree Celsius to +100 degree Celsius. It has good resistance to water, oil, fuel and come in different thicknesses.
Natural rubber:
This type rubber gaskets has excellent properties including good tensile strength, abrasion resistance, low compression set, hire tear properties and more. This type is available in various grades and thickness. It is possible to extrude or mold as needed.
Silicone Rubber:
This type has good resistance to high temperature. It can be used from -60 degree Celsius to +230 degree Celsius, based on the grade chosen. This is an inert material that will not react with chemicals. It also has excellent resistance to Ozone and UV rays. It is available in different colors, thickness and hardness.
EPDM Rubber:
This is Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer rubber, which is of synthetic type of solid rubber. It has outstanding weather resistance properties. It serves best for outdoor uses. Featured with excellent Ozone and UV resistance, has good resistance to vegetable based hydraulic oils and water based chemicals.
